Introducing the Experts Behind Our Research
A diverse group of dedicated scientists.

Anthony Venon
Assistant Research Scientist
I am a molecular biology engineer specializing in plant genomics and the evolutionary role of transposable elements in perennial fruit trees. Since 2017, I have worked closely with Amandine Cornille on genomics projects exploring genome evolution and adaptation in fruit trees. At NYU Abu Dhabi, I am establishing the molecular biology laboratory, training students in experimental techniques, and supporting research on plant responses to biotic and abiotic stresses under global change.

Aurélie Mesnil
Post-doctoral associate
I am a postdoctoral researcher in evolutionary genomics at NYU Abu Dhabi. I study the evolutionary history of fruit trees, with a particular interest in domestication and the evolution of the self-incompatibility locus. My research combines pangenomics, population genomics, and structural variation analyses to better understand genome evolution. I earned my PhD in evolutionary biology from the University of La Rochelle (France), where I investigated the evolution of pathogenic Vibrio aestuarianus lineages in marine bivalves. My passion lies in exploring how genomic diversity shapes adaptation across both plant and microbial systems.

Somia Saidi
Post-doctoral associate
I am a postdoctoral researcher interested in genome evolution, with a particular focus on transposable elements and their role in shaping genome architecture. I completed my PhD at Université Paris-Saclay (France), where I characterized transposable elements in pangenomes using bioinformatics and population genomics approaches. At NYU Abu Dhabi, I investigate genome evolution in fruit trees, combining computational genomics, population genetics, and structural variation analyses to better understand adaptation and genome diversity.

Ombeline Lamer
Research Engineer Bioinformatician
I am a bioinformatics engineer working on the BNP Paribas Foundation project in the ECLECTIC Lab. My work focuses on the analysis and integration of large-scale genomic datasets to investigate the evolution, adaptation, and domestication of perennial fruit trees. I develop reproducible bioinformatics workflows and contribute to population genomics, comparative genomics, and data analysis to support the lab’s research on biodiversity and global change.

Mathieu Brisson
Study Engineer
I am a study engineer specializing in plant phenotyping and data management. My work focuses on measuring morphological and physiological traits in perennial fruit trees and developing standardized databases to support large-scale ecological and genomic analyses. By combining fieldwork, phenotyping, and data organization, I contribute to research on plant adaptation, domestication, and responses to global change.

Maxime Criado
PhD Candidate
I am a PhD candidate in population genetics and evolutionary genomics at Paris-Saclay University under the supervision of Amandine Cornille. My research explores the adaptive potential of wild and cultivated fruit trees under climate change, with a particular focus on apple. By combining population genomics, statistical modeling, and environmental data, I aim to identify the genetic basis of climate adaptation and predict future responses to global change. My work lies at the interface of evolution, ecology, bioinformatics, and quantitative genomics.

Ronan Dadole
PhD Student
I am a PhD candidate in evolutionary genomics at Paris-Saclay University under the supervision of Amandine Cornille. My research investigates the genomic basis of biotic and abiotic stress responses in wild and cultivated apple trees, with a particular focus on the role of transposable elements and epigenetic regulation. By combining long-read sequencing, transcriptomics, and computational genomics, I explore how genome structure and gene regulation contribute to adaptation under global change.

Yuqi NIE
PhD Candidate
I am a PhD candidate at Paris-Saclay University, jointly supervised by Karine Alix and Amandine Cornille. My research focuses on the adaptive genomics of pear domestication, using population genomics and evolutionary approaches to investigate how domestication and environmental adaptation have shaped genomic diversity in cultivated and wild pear populations.

Melanija Filipovska
Student Assistant
I am an undergraduate Biology student at NYU Abu Dhabi with a strong interest in evolutionary biology, conservation, and genomics. My research interests focus on understanding the evolutionary and genetic processes that shape biodiversity and inform conservation. I am particularly interested in applying genomic approaches to address fundamental questions in evolution and the conservation of natural populations.

Sadaf Habib
Capstone Students
I am a Biology undergraduate student at NYU Abu Dhabi with a strong interest in evolutionary genomics and epigenomics. My capstone project focuses on the role of epigenetic variation in climate adaptation in wild and cultivated apple trees. Using genome-wide methylation data and computational genomics, I investigate how epigenetic regulation contributes to environmental responses and adaptation under global change.

Nora Min
Research Assistantship in Arts
I am Nora Min, a Biology Junior from Shanghai. My research focus originated from integrating environmental cultural studies with populational health and genetics. I center my recent exploration on developmental genetics, and I am passionate to communicate localized scientific findings via culturally accessible multimedia narratives.

Aran Loid
Student Assistant
I am an undergraduate Biology student at NYU Abu Dhabi with a strong interest in evolutionary biology, genomics, and biodiversity. As a Student Assistant in the ECLECTIC Lab, I support research on the evolution and adaptation of perennial fruit trees while developing skills in molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. I am passionate about understanding the evolutionary processes that shape natural populations and their responses to environmental change.

Nancy Jing
Capstone student
I am a Capstone student in Biology at NYU Abu Dhabi, where I investigate the genetic and epigenetic basis of climate adaptation in perennial fruit trees. My project combines genomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics to explore how environmental stress shapes genome regulation and contributes to adaptation. Through this work, I am developing skills in evolutionary genomics, computational biology, and data analysis while contributing to research on crop resilience under global change.
